According to their latest newsletter (No.3, click below for PDF), the Independent Panel on Forestry will be publishing their final report on 4th July, presumably making an ironic declaration of their independence. The Panel has made 10 visits to woodlands in the year since being formed, which in the grand scheme of things doesn't sound like very much given their remit to pronounce a future for English forestry. However, given the list of projects and partnerships they've seen, it's hard to see how they can't be impressed with the role played by the Forestry Commission. 'This highlighted the inter-relationships between Forestry Commission staff,' they say in the newsletter, 'forestry agents, voluntary sector organisations and local project leads.'
